B.voc. Courses Under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Kaushal Kendra
The launch of the SKILL INDIA campaign by Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, is an important milestone towards achieving the objective of skilling with Speed, Scale and standards across the country. The launch of mission assumes significance as India currently faces a severe shortage of well-trained, skilled workers in various fields. Therefore, vocational courses have been introduced under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra to create skilled manpower for requirements of the industry at various levels. The scheme provides for vertical mobility from short-term certificate courses to full-fledged graduate degree programmes.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based on higher education as part of college/university education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree with multiple exits such as Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the NSQF. The B.Voc. programme is focused on universities and colleges providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles and their NOSs along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc. to make a meaningful participation in accelerating the economy of India by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge.
