Founder Dev Samaj Bhagwan Dev Atma
“I want to make this world a paradise.
I want to usher in the system of Dharma, here is
this world, that would sound Death-Knell of
all sins and evils and make people so truthful
and trust worthy in their relations… that
human life becomes fully Sweet and Blissful.
My Mission is to infuse new life in man,
to redeem him from evil life and so to purify his
relation with others that he becomes an heir to
the blessings of the true life of the Dharma.”
-Bhagwan Dev Atma, Founder Dev Samaj
The 16th November 1992 was indeed a watershed in my career when I joined this prestigious institution holding a pre-eminent position among the women colleges in India. The task ahead, I set for myself, was not only to maintain its high status, but also to make DSCW a world class centre for excellence, a paradise for women education known for its value-based education, the values, the standards, the traditions which were setup by the distinguished predecessors, right from the time of revered P.V. Kannal Ji and revered Dharamvir Ji.
But ever since my joining as a Principal in 1992, the one divine and radiant force that has been driving, sustaining and inspiring me in my work is the blessings of Bhagwan Dev Atma, Founder Dev Samaj. The more I began to know about Him and His work, His “life-vow”, the more I found myself galvanized into action. I have been profoundly influenced and inspired by His “love for truth”, and unrelenting “aversion for untruth”; His “love for goodness” and “aversion for evil”; His “love for nature”, His “sense of neatness and beauty, of justice, of discipline”; His feeling of compassion for the suffering of others, of respect and reverence for elders; and His firm belief and conviction that “in the sphere of religion and education, men and women have the same rights”, as well as his “love to carry out …[his] right commitments or promises to the finish.” The traditions and values set by him have all been guiding me as the lighthouse.
May his light, not just his words, reach and illumine my soul. May I always be in commune with Him, surrendered in His love and His devotion at His lotus feet.
