DSCW is a non-profitable institution under Dev Samaj Society. The founder of DEV SAMAJ, Bhagwan Dev Atma was deeply stirred to see the pathetic condition of women in the 19th Century, when giving education to women was consider to be a taboo. Breaking all the clutches of the society and to make women socially and economically independent, he thought of providing education to the women of the society. Bhagwan Dev Atma, Founder Dev Samaj, started the first batch of Women Education in the year 1887 in Lahore and in continuation to that he laid down the foundation stone of women education in the form of Dev Samaj Sr. Sec. School in Ferozepur in the year 1901. Further, on the heavy demand of the parents of this backward area of Ferozepur, Dev Samaj Society started Dev Samaj Post Graduate College in the year 1934. At present Dev Samaj Society is running 21 education institutions in Northern India not only for the promotion of the women education but also for the women empowerment. Since 1887 every year thousands and thousands of students are being empowered by giving them the education.
Ferozepur, being the backward and remote area is not able to give education to each and every girl child. Though DSCW is trying its level best to bring the underprivileged, downtrodden and poor students to the mainstream of the society due to financial constraints DSCW is not able to fulfil its dream to make such underprivileged girl students, educated by giving them 100% free education. At present on an average, for every 100 girls in this area, only 10% of girls join higher education because of the financial crunch.
We love to welcome volunteers from all around the world. If you love girls and at the same time want to do something in the field of women education, DSCW is the best place for you. If you wish to volunteer, please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org. You are saving needy girls by making them financially independent and also giving them a chance to live life on their own terms.
